About C-STEM GIRL Camp:
The C-STEM Girls in Robotics Leadership Camp (GIRL) is part of Cincinnati’s Summer of STEM camps and is focused on motivating girls in middle school entering 6th, 7th or 8th grade to learn computing and STEM concepts through a fun and exciting robotics-based curriculum (more info about C-STEM here). It will be led by Julie Norris, C-STEM teacher of the Year (see article here). In addition to the curriculum, we plan to introduce campers to women in STEM and potentially take a field trip to a University Campus (more details soon). We hope this leadership camp will enable them to serve as leaders and inspire other young girls to gain interest in science and technology through creating and joining robotics clubs in their schools and participating in the RoboPlay Competition on C-STEM Day. The camp participants are also eligible for the Girl’s Leadership Award. The curriculum focus is: Programming in C, Leadership Skills, Teamwork, Building Confidence, Women in IT, and of course, making new friends!
This Summer of STEM camp is supported in part by the Greater Cincinnati STEM Collaborative and will be held in two Cincinnati locations this summer. If your camper cannot attend the iSPACE session June 25-29, please check out the C-STEM GIRL Camp held by Northwest Local School District at Colerain Middle School from June 18-22 (will provide links when available).
