Vision:  To empower girls to see themselves in STEM.   

Mission: To ignite a passion in girls for STEM so that they are prepared to thrive in tomorrow's world.

To accomplish their mission, the GIS Advisory Board hosts several all-girl STEM experiences throughout the year, provides girls with opportunities to interact with female STEM role models, and gives families and educators the resources and tools to support children's interest in STEM.

Is your daughter interested in space? At this FREE event, girls in grades 5th – 8th will have an exciting opportunity to speak with a former NASA astronaut, Karen Nyberg (the 50th woman in space), and NASA Food Scientist, Vickie Kloeris, recipient of the 2019 NASA Distinguished Service Medal. Girls will take what they learn from Karen and Vickie and imagine, plan, and create their own Mars Lander!

Girls in Aviation Day

Sunday SEPTEMBER 24, 2023


In partnership with the National Aviation Hall of Fame (NAHF), Women in Aviation's (WAI) Huffman Prairie and The Wright chapters are pleased to host a Girls in Aviation Day that will sure to impress!

Designed for girls ages 8-17, Girls in Aviation Day is a FREE event to interest girls and young women to get into aviation. Not everyone has to be a pilot - there are careers through engineering, mechanics/maintenance, logistics, human resources, accounting, air traffic control, dispatchers, hospitality, drones, marketing, management, and so many more!

WAI and the NAHF are committed to encouraging, empowering, and educating all those whose interests, lives, and work involve aviation and aerospace without regard to race, ethnicity, gender identity, age, sexual orientation, physical or mental abilities, or point of view.

 The goal of this event is to create awareness of the many careers in aviation and support the interest of those who already have a passion for the sky!
