Vision: To empower girls to see themselves in STEM.
Mission: To ignite a passion in girls for STEM so that they are prepared to thrive in tomorrow's world.
To accomplish their mission, the GIS Advisory Board hosts several all-girl STEM experiences throughout the year, provides girls with opportunities to interact with female STEM role models, and gives families and educators the resources and tools to support children's interest in STEM.

Girls in STEM: Voice of America Radio Science Lab
October 3rd, 2025
Girls in 5th-8th grade are invited to join us at the iSPACE GIRLS in STEM Night on October 3rd from 6 pm - 8 pm, hosted by the VOA Museum! This exciting event will feature unique, hands-on learning opportunities in the Radio Science Lab by discovering the secrets behind Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and how wireless works. Your lab work will reveal how the remote control for robots can control an electro mechanical machine. In addition, you will experience how scientist made their discoveries reveling the mysteries of wireless communications.
Next you will take home an electric motor you build from parts supplied at each workstation. Show your friends how magnetism and electricity work together to create motion.
So bring your curiosity and excitement to a unique STEM opportunity that reveals the amazing world of wireless you never knew existed. This will be an amazing experience.
